These are a list of all of the haircare brands in Superdrug and what their policies are on animal testing and if they are vegan! Some of them are cruelty free but sell in China, some don't and some do test on animals. Hopefully this list will make things a lot easier when it comes to drugstore makeup shopping for some people!
Quick reminder: The leaping bunny logo (below) certifies that the product has been named 'cruelty free' under the internationally recognised Humane Cosmetics/Humane Household Products Standards and means that the product has not been tested on animals in the UK or anywhere else in the world (including sales in China). Other cruelty free logos include PETA, cruelty free international & choose cruelty free.
In my point of view; If a company truly doesn't believe in animal testing, then regardless of profit or any other element, they should not sell their products in China. China have a law in their country that states no products are allowed to be sold there, unless they are tested on animals, however Chinese citizens can purchase from online sites which sell makeup which has not been tested on animals. Just because a product hasn't been tested on an animal does not mean that its not safe. There are many ways now for humans to check if a product is safe other than using an animal to do so - one of these methods being testing products on human skin donated from plastic surgery.

CRUELTY FREE. - this company is cruelty free/ claims to be cruelty free, but they sell in China, and they will test on animals when required by law and they maybe owned by a company that does test on animals.
100% CRUELTY FREE. - this company is cruelty free and does NOT sell in China.
Aussie are registered under PETA's list of companies who DO test on animals and are owned by Procter & Gamble, who also test on animals.
Batiste: VEGAN OPTIONS AVAILABLE. CRUELTY FREE.
On Batiste's FAQ section they were asked if their dry shampoo's were vegan friendly they replied saying "Yes! Batiste prides itself on being a cruelty-free personal brand that cares about the well-being of both humans and animals." However, their stylist products are not vegan friendly as they contain Keratin which is derived from sheets wool. Their products claim to not be tested on animals on the packaging however, when asked if they test on animals they replied saying "No! Batiste doesn't support testing on animals." but with no other details. Their parent company is called Church & Dwight, who are BIG on animal testing.

Dove themselves are owned by Unilever which are a brand who are known for testing on animals. They are registered on PETA's list of companies that DO test on animals.
Fudge Urban: CRUELTY FREE.
Fudge Urban aren't listed anywhere online for being cruelty free or not apart from on bleachworldwide's website where it says "Fudge Urban are against animal testing" under their products.

Garnier brand are on PETA's list of companies who DO test on animals and are owned by L'Oreal who also test on animals.
This company is owned by Procter & Gamble who test on animals and they are also on PETA's list of companies who DO test on animals.

John Frieda aren't listed on PETA or CFI or any other website for not testing on animals, and also don't have anything on their website to say they don't test on animals which leads me to think they do tests, obviously this isn't 100% accurate, but the fact they ignore it on their website probably suggests they do test. Also, the company they are owned by, Kao USA, are a registered company on PETA, as they test on animals.
Listed on PETA's list of brands which DO test on animals. In L'Oreal's animal testing section they claim "The Group no longer tests on animal, anywhere in the world, and does not delegate this task to others. An exception could be made if regulatory authorities required it for safety or regulatory purposes." I would not trust this brand until they are on either PETA or the leaping bunny programme or state it on their products properly & stop selling to China.
The same above applies as both companies are owned by L'Oreal.

OGX, owned by Vogue have claimed on their FAQ section they do NOT test on animals - "No, OGX® products are NOT tested on animals. OGX® does not initiate animal tests on either finished products or ingredients whether directly or indirectly. All ingredients used are carefully monitored. All suppliers are requested to confirm that their materials have not been tested on animals. Ingredients which do not have this data supplied for them are not used in any products. OGX® is against the suffering endured by animals when ingredients and products are tested. We support suppliers and organizations that are developing alternative methods of testing without using animals." HOWEVER, they are listed on PETA's list of companies who test on animals and they DO sell in China! So personally, I would not trust this company, they have also just been taken over by Johnson & Johnson.

Shea Moisture: CRUELTY FREE.
This brand are registered under PETA's list of companies who don't test on animals and hold the cruelty free logo on all of their products. Their ingredients aren't tested on animals either and they are not owned by a company who test on animals, however, they are unclear as to whether they sell their products in China.
